Announcing Global MedWorld:
Uniting the Global Medical Community

Global MedWorld is a new WWW-based project headquartered at Stanford University (Stanford California, U.S.A.). Based on its award-winning prototype, Stanford MedWorld, Global MedWorld will highlight medical education throughout the World, offering perspectives about the medical training process,the practice of medicine, and the specific challenges facing medical students and physicians on a global scale.

Global MedWorld will focus on personal narratives from medical students, physicians, educators and health care professionals. We will attempt to highlight important issues and events from various regions of the world, and to cover the experience of medicine from a global perspective. We seek personal stories, essays, articles, photographic narratives, poetry and prose.

MedWorld will contain news, information, research, academic and lifestyle departments. Features, highlighting people, places, projects, and problems related to medicine will also be developed. Internet chat areas and free internet homepage services (popular features of Stanford MedWorld) will also be incorporated.

Unique to Global MedWorld will be the development of new interactive media projects. The first project, in development, will be an episodic journal about the medical training experience based on weekly journal entries from U.S. medical students.

MedWorld is currently recruiting editors, writers, and contributors from medical schools and hospitals across the world. We are seeking contacts for the European, Asian, Middle East, South American, North American, and African regions. All positions on MedWorld are volunteer-based, without renumeration or compensation.
