There are a few things unique to Houston that I appreciate, and one of them is the late afternoon lighting when the orange sun is setting next to huge, dark grey thunder storm clouds. It took two minutes to walk from the sliding glass ER exit doors to my car at the far edge of the parking lot, and the rose filter hue of the sky and surroundings was gone. But too soon the colors became flat and my stomach began to growl reminding me of the cryptosporidium floating around in my intestine. I was notified by Cindy, a fellow ENT resident who attended the same journal club meeting at Ruggles that I did over 1 week ago, that we all had this parasite. The diarrhea, headaches, reflux and fatigue all began to make since. Now I'm on Bactrim DS for 10 days.
...and oh is it nice to be regular again (3 days later). No more tales from the cryptosporidium. I'm back drinking caffeine and eating whoppers again. The weekend looks promising weather-wise. It is beautiful today, Palo Alto beautiful if I may be so specific. 70 degrees bright, blue sky and a breeze. I'm off to purchase a flash for my camera and then to tbe HoChi Minh trail for some off road riding. Tonight Kathleen and are going to Herman outdoor amphitheatre for the Juneteenth festival, a celebration of the day Lincoln's news of emancipation reached Houston. Clearence Gatemouth Brown will headline with some fresh Texas blues. The music is calling, and the trails will be dark soon.
"Security is mostly a superstition. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure or nothing..." Helen Keller
Sincerely
Peter.
